Mixtape of my Mind.

Do you remember Mixtapes?

Even if CD's became more and more frequent when I was younger I still remember the Mix Tapes. I remember recording Michael Jackson songs from the radio. Sitting around, sometimes for hours, waiting for that one song to play and then record it onto a tape.
I still remember the first one I got. I was about 8 when I spent a day at my Aunts house, she had a cd which I took a liking to. The next time we came to visit I got it, a tape she had made from that very CD. I don't remember what CD it was, I don't even remember what songs that were one it because that tape is long gone now. But I do remember the joy I experienced when I listened to it for the first time.

I kind of miss those tapes. Which songs would enter my very own Mixtape today? Well that changes from one day to another but right now, on this Sunday my (10 song) Mixtape would probably look/sound something like this:

  1. Living in a Box- Living in a Box
This song has been stuck in my head for two days now. It's a very "catchy" 80's tune that just, sticks. And it never fails to make me want to jump up and down and sing along. This eponymous song was probably their biggest hit and to me the best one too. Not that it's the best song ever made but it's totally listenable and sticks in your head for hours, trust me.
  2. Paradise City- Guns N' Roses
Axl Rose may be one of the most pompous assholes to ever walk this planet. But there's no denying Guns N' Roses make good music. I've always had a soft spot for this band and this may not be my favorite song with them but it is pretty brilliant. And come on they've got Slash, how can it not be awesome?
  3. Dear Jack- Jack's Mannequin
This band is relatively new to me. I haven't listened to them for long but from the first notes they had me. Brilliant music and lyrics. This is my favorite song by them, right now. Even if their song "The Mixed Tape" was the inspiration for this post.
  4. Hair of the Dog- Nazareth
Nazareth is not one of my favorite metal bands and "Love Hurts" is by far their most famous song and a brilliant ballad. But there's just something about this one, if only the fact that it's on the Lords of Dogtown soundtrack and I relate it to that particular movie.
  5. Assasin- John Mayer
I can not gush enough about the brilliance of this man. From the minute I first saw/heard "Bigger than My Body" on VH1 he had me permanently starstruck. Assasin is on his new album Battle Studies and it isn't my absolute favorite but I've been listening to it all week. The lyrics are just so...in lack of better words; captivating.
  6. Waiting on a Star to Fall- Boy Meets Girl
Bloody Synthpop. Why is it that this particular genre of music is so...so...account stirring? It's not even that good really but somehow it makes me smile. This song is just one of those songs that will always make me smile no matter how down I might be.
  7. A View to a Kill- Duran Duran
Duran Duran. 80's. Weird outfits. Bad Hairdos. What's not to like? Duran Duran has to be my favorite band from the 80's not from the Glam/Hair-Metal/Rock genre. Song after song they manage to make me giggle, dance and sing along. This particular one for those who doesn't know is a Bond song, to the movie with the same name.
  8. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm- Crash Test Dummies
So the song name confused me quite a bit when I saw it for the first time. It may have made severeal "Bad Songs" lists but I like it. And his voice, by God. It's practically orgasmic. I'm serious, it should be illeagal to have a voice that low paired with those impossibly dark eyes. Mmmm...
  9. Here I go Again- Whitesnake
I remember listening to this song in my dad's car ages ago. It was one of the songs that got me into Rock in the first place. It's just something about the lyrics, the music and David Coverdale's voice. This will always be one of my favorite songs and just because I remember listening to it in my dad's car I always think of him when I hear it, well that and the video with the cars...
  10. Devil Inside- INXS
The first time I heard and INXS song was when I watched the Lost Boys for the first time. "Good Times" , which featured Jimmy Barnes is on the sountrack and that's how I found INXS. Front man Michael Hutchence may have left us (may he R.I.P.) but the band lives on with new front figures. There's not one song by this band that I dislike and "Devil Inside" is one of my favorites, just listen to the lyrics and the sound. Pure, absolute brilliance. The video though, is...well, see for yourselves.
So, what would your Mixtape look like?

Peace Out.

The Wind of Change.

"Follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change "
-Scorpions-
So I've been feeling the wind of change as of late. What does that mean, you may ask? Well this blog is well mine. But the name..."What's in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet."-Juliet said that in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
And the name of this Blog doesn't feel...right anymore. Sure I'll always be greatly intrigued by Vampires and Rockstars but it doesn't fit anymore.
So I've decided to change it. Yeah, it's in the progress right now. It was just something that hit me when I went through the blog earlier today. So this is a new year, and a new look with a new name. I will not tell you what the new name will be just yet, it's a Surprise! But  do not fret, it'll be up soon enough.

And now; the music video to the slightly corny song Wind of Change by Scorpions.

Peace Out.

Sunday.HairMetal and Rime In Me Hair...

Dear Blog...

Last night I managed to get lost and somehow ended up at A8 x) I wonder how THAT happaned. Well anyways had loads of fun. Saw alot of people that I haven't seen in ages!
It's so much fun to talk to someone that you haven't talked to for awhile, because you have so much to talk about! Most Awesome.

Today...I haven't done that much. Basically; woke up, had a very-much-needed cup of coffee, watched Nin ja Warrior on the telly (I know. I know. Spare me please), then I went for a walk and the strangest thing happened. By bangs were coated in rime! My hair wasn't even wet! Most strange.
Now I'm sitting here listening to Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue and any other metal-band I happen to have stored somewhere...Radical!

Over and Out.

Yellow,Mellow,Fellow...

Wauw. I think I just lost about ten braincells while typing that title right then and there. Sometimes I'm amazed at my own stupidity cleverness.

So today was the final day on my course-ish...thingy(?). It was great experience and I learned alot. (Jeesh, how text-book prasie was that?) It's true though. Awesome experience with some great people. Let's all do a happy dance. (Why yes, that was sarcasm)
As you can probably tell. I am tired. (Well, duuh...) I got up at 05.30 this morning, drove to the trainstation, took the train to the city, took the metro to the bustation and the bus to the house where the course was held. Talk about using public transportation, eh? But let's not get into that debate.
Me beeing a small-town girl (Oh GummyBears, did I really just type that? Seriously?) and everything found it rather refreshing to "get lost", so to speak, in the massive crowds of aliens people. It really is something to be walking on the Trainstation's platform amongst other "travelers". You see alot of people.
Some hurry, some take it easy, some stand in your way and others run into you...
It is even more interesting when you are practically deaf to the surrounding sounds because your own little soundtrack is pulsating in your ears (Dude who invented the mp3...You are totally Righteous dude!).
I noticed as I was walking down the platform in my own extravagant walk, although I tried not to swing my arms around too much, I mean I could take someones eye out...Sincerely!
Well...what was I talking about again? (Reads former paragraph...mumbles...Eureka!)
As I was typing (writers humor...hahaha...so not funny...I really shouldn't be allowed to type in this state of mind...), I was walking down the platform with Van Halen (what is it with me and Hairbands?) wailing about "Running With The Devil" and noticed that if I looked closely, people were walking in tune with the music...without knowing it! I found that hilarious at the time...but when my brain started functioning again I realized that it was soo lame. Yeah.
Well having your own personal soundtrack is fun...just don't start singing along out loud...I have to stop myself from doing that all the time. Can you say annoying habit? Well I just put my mp3 on shuffle and then watch as the world continues to spin to my personal totally gnarly bitchin awesome Sountrack. Awesomeness.

Yeah but I think I better stop typing and go to sleep now. That would be so nice. My sweet bed is calling...

Sleep Tight. Over and Out.

Eat The Rich…

“Believe in all the good things
That money just can't buy
Then you won't get no bellyache
From eatin' humble pie
I believe in rags to riches
Your inheritance won't last
So take your Gray poupon my friend
And shove it up your ass”

-Aerosmith-

I am officially an Idiot. This morning, at an very indecent hour I might add, we took off in our boat towards the market. Daddy dearest’s idea, mind you. Well before that I was grumbling about being tired and made myself ready to head off. This involved applying an highly inflammable amount of Hairspray to my hair… When we then got out on the sea, at first I liked it but then…the horror! A thought struck me! My hair was still wet from the frigging Hairspray…it had not dried yet! So if you add wet Hairspray+a lot of Wind you get…=?
Yeah, one hell of a hairdo.  I realized that by the end of that very windy trip, my hair would look…well something like that…

We arrived at our destination. I immediately searched for a mirror. I found none. But I  did find a small window where i could see my reflection…
As expected …I looked like a bad version of an 80’s HairBand. Freaking Fantastic. Not. Well I managed to somehow fix my new do into something rather presentable. Mohah. Well next problem was that I was wearing my oh-so-fabulous Ripped Jeans. I love them. Older Ladies and Gents looked strangely at them…Oh well.

Now my brilliance is needed. Apparently my awesomeness is needed to fix some food. Yeah.

See you later Alligator…
See you in a while Crocodile…

I humbly apologize for the Lame-Ass lines…I couldn’t help myself.

Over and Out.

Riight...

Heloou sombreros!

Dunno why I said that...oh well. Here I am, slightly bored and full of Ben&Jerry's Cheescake Strawberry Ice Cream. Mmmm...Ice Cream...
Not mucch has happened since my Cabin visit, I managed to survive the Cabin fever and got back to work today. Did so not want to get out of the bed this morning though...ugh.

Watched Walk The Line last night, it was a good movie. Awesome performances by the cast.

I have also bought another bag! Yaaay...a tru Rock N' Roll bag with Elvis and Jim Morrison (The Doors) on it...to name a few.

What else? Nada.

Over and Out.
